Working with you to find freedom in food
Eating disorders touch many lives, affecting 65% of women aged 25-45, and their prevalence is steadily increasing. But it’s important to note that eating disorders can affect anyone, regardless of age, gender, or orientation.
Let’s dispel some myths surrounding eating disorders. These challenges are not simply about food, they are profound mental health struggles. Recovery is a journey that demands discipline, support, and a collaborative approach with healthcare professionals.
I’m here to provide tailored nutritional counseling and meal planning to create a safe, nurturing path toward healing. I work closely with healthcare experts to ensure comprehensive care. My mission is to guide you toward a healthier relationship with food, increased confidence, and a life that's liberated and not defined by your challenges with food.
“Only thin people have eating disorders.”
While anorexia nervosa (AN) is indeed characterized by extreme low weight, it's important to recognize that eating disorders, such as binge eating disorder (BED) and bulimia, can affect individuals of all body types. In fact, those struggling with BED and bulimia often fall within the range of normal weight or may even be overweight.
Understanding the Complexities of Eating Disorders
Eating disorders are multifaceted conditions that can affect individuals from all walks of life. They don't discriminate based on appearance, and they often have deep-rooted emotional and psychological triggers.
Individuals that suffer from striving for perfection, low self esteem, poor body image, bullying, challenging relationships, abuse or trauma and type 1 diabetes are at higher risk of developing an eating disorder. There are 3 main types of eating disorders, they are:
BULIMIA NERVOSA
Eating large amounts of food with a loss of control over eating, leading to purging.
ANOREXIA NERVOSA
Restriction of nutrient intake which leads to significantly low body weight.
BINGE EATING
DISORDER
Recurrent episodes of eating large quantities until uncomfortably full, a feeling of loss of control.
Overcoming an eating disorder requires a great deal of discipline, but it also entails stepping out of one's comfort zone and finding trust in those to help guide you. Remember: the same inner drive that fueled the eating disorder can be harnessed for recovery.
